Letter to UN DPI Program

Here is a copy of a letter sent to the UN DPI program by victims of Sahaj Marg in Europe and Asia (now including North America)

Caution... SRCM and Sahaj Marg (Chennai) registered in California has a member who works at UN. Make certain that the recipient of your letter is "at arm's length" in this matter.

Dear Sir/Madam

Re: Shri Ram Chandra Mission

After reading your "Criteria for Association to DPI", I feel duty-bound and compelled to make you aware of the areas in which the above-mentionned organisation does not meet those criteria. Specifically, the criteria that are of concern are:

* The NGO should have statutes/by-laws providing for a transparent process of making decisions, elections of officers and members

The Shri Ram Chandra Mission with its current President and Guru (Master) for life, is more a theocracy, dictatorship and/or a cult of an individual than a democracy. The President, being also the Guru or Master and the "flesh and blood incarnation of the Divine", according to their material, has all the power over the life and death of the adherents, called "abhyasis" (see Appendix section 3). The Master will never be opposed, questioned, or voted against, as that would entail being marginalized as a "bad disciple". The double pyramidal bureaucracy (Directors and Zonal-in-Charge) of the Shri Ram Chandra Mission is appointed by the President/Master who is to be obeyed in all matters, not only in spiritual matters (see Appendix Section 3) if the adherents, called abhyasis or serfs, are to reach the Divine. Of course, this goal is not verifiable and the adherents take this on faith alone.

Some directors in some cases as in Canada, are not even residents of the country in which they are directors. In Canada, the majority of directors are foreigners (See Appendix Section 1). In France, the executive director and vice-president now lives in Switzerland. Allegiance to the Master/President seems to be the main criteria for appointment to these positions or to the proverbial "inner circle". (see Appendix 1.1)

Also, I enclose a series of quotes from the written material and the speeches and audio-visual material of the Mission, many of which do not seem to adhere to the United Nations Charter, and many of which are "cultish" in nature. The quotes will show the level of control the President, who is also the Master/Guru, wields in the Mission. I trust you are aware of the work being done by women's groups in the third world, and especially in India, to challenge these elitist and male-dominated, "old boys networks" and to expose their abuses. You will notice that true democracy receives only token status in the Shri Ram Chandra Mission.

Also included below is a list of blogs from ex-members who have been part of the Mission for many years and are now speaking out about their concerns. One (Christian) was a member for 18 years and one (Michael) was a preceptor and member of the Guru's Inner Circle and a member of the Publishing Arm of the Mission. His duties included editing (editing out controversial quotes) and publishing the speeches and other written and audio-visual material.

Although this group collects funds for targeted "high profile" and "politically motivated" disaster relief, a clause on their site states that funds collected can be "re-assigned" to other projects at the discretion of the President. And there is one quote that "Sahaj Marg keeps all diseases at bay" by the President of one of their Ashrams. (See Appendix 4.1.1) Evidence to the contrary is obvious.

This group has been listed unfavourably on many government reports in Europe (France) (see Appendix Section 5.3) and in many newspaper articles. (on the WEB and available on demand)

In light of this new information, please re-open this file and re-question the wisdom of including such groups as the Shri Ram Chandra Mission in the NGO DPI Program. The NGO DPI program is a great program and groups such as the Shri Ram Chandra Mission" could bring it into disrepute.

Thank you for all the good work for the cause of peace in the world.

Yours truly,

P.S. Please acknowledge receipt stating arms length relationship to the Shri Ram Chandra Mission.

1.1 Loyalty to the Master and the Mission

From Krishna (Master's son) to European Preceptors at Tiruppur May, 2005

The 5 cardinal principles for a true disciple

* Loyalty to the three M's.
* Dedication to the purpose of the Mission.
* Preserving the teaching & practice without distortion.
* Brotherhood.
* Attitude of sharing.

Loyalty to the 3 M's

What is loyalty?

* Loyalty is an unwavering faith in the Master. -Loyalty does not judge the Master.
* Loyalty is the ability to absorb criticism and keep going on and on forever.
* Loyalty is complete obedience to the Master's will.
* Loyalty is the sister of surender. Without the Master, there is nothing!
* So, loyalty to the Master is everything!
* Out of this grows loyalty to everjthing that He is committed to.
* Loyalty to the mission and method is thus an extension of one's loyalty to the Master.
* This loyalty can only grow out of a close association with the Master, and out of an appreciation of His life and work.
* This kind of loyalty is not only personal loyalty, but extends beyond that, to everything else.
* It is like the difference between: love him who loves all, and love aH whom he loves.
* It is possible that someone may be personally loyal to the Master (gurumat).
* It is also possible that someone may be loyal to the mission and the method (manmat).
* It is very rare that someone is loyal to both - the Master, and His creations.
* 0nly such a person is 'truly loyal' .

Dedication to the purpose of the Mission

* Dedication to the Master's purpose can only corne out of complete loyalty to Him.
* It requires total devotion to the Master and His goals.
* It also helps to have a shared vision of the mission and its goals.
* It requires a commitment to make His vision a reality.

Preserving the Teaching & Practice without distortion

* There are two ways:
* The tirst is to implement the Master's plan without question or egoistic involvement.
* One simply acts in the way that the Master wants. .One does not question the whys or wherefores.
* This is by far the best way.
* The second way is to question, and then, after applying the mind, accept the Master' s way as the best, and then only act.
* However, this implies judging the Master, and therefore faIls short of the tirst way, at least as far as the loyalty of the person is concemed.
* Master says that it is OK to question when given permission to do so, but only up to a point.
* That point is when the Master decides on a course of action.
* To question beyond this point is disloyalty.
* AIl of us have done this openly or within our hearts at one time or other.
* The only way we can preserve the purity of Master's teaching is if we accept it completely in our hearts, and if our ego is completely at rest.

2-Quotes of concern by the Gurus of the Mission about other Groups

2.1 On Christianity (and Confessional) and other religions

From Speech in Denmark in November 2005.

(Even though Sahaj Marg claims to erase Samskaras (imprints on the soul by actions)

"So you are lucky. If you were in religion, you would have to go to church and you know, tell lies in that wonderful place called the confessional. "Lord, forgive me for what I have done this week." And there’s an equally sinful priest on the other side of the curtain saying, "In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I absolve you of your sins." Something he has no power to do. No man on earth has power to absolve you of your sins except two people: one yourself, and one your God. In between there is nobody who can do it. That is why religion is useless, that is why religion has failed. That’s why you are all here, not in church."

2.1.1 And Later, in same speech, on Christ’s Wisdom

I am no Christ, you know, to crucify myself on the cross for all of you. Do you think Christ was a wise man, that he became crucified so that forever and ever after humanity is absolved of its sins? I don’t think so. It gave you more license for indulgence. But after all, you have been forgiven two thousand years ago for what you are going to do today, what your children are going to do ten years hence, and so on and so forth. I don’t think he was wise. He left no room, no incentive for human beings to change, become moral, become spiritual. You are all happy, you see, that you had a Christ who got crucified. None of us weep for Christ. We are happy. "God bless him," we say, which is another blasphemy. You need blessings, not Christ.

2.2 On Hinduism

At a preceptors' seminar in January, 2001, Chari stated:

"In the Indian scene, the Hindus and Hinduism is corrupt. God is personified as somebody who can be bribed with gifts, with so called prasads - offering temptation of Heaven which fact Babuji emphasized in His teachings, saying that religions depends on two instruments - temptation and fear."

"I am afraid that Sahaj Marg is suffering in this way because even when Christian people become abhyasis and preceptors, they somehow, somewhere along the way seem to lose this idea of love, charity, compassion, faith and become preceptors. So what Spirituality offers and can deliver, our priesthood, I would categorize you as, say temporarily as priesthood - they destroy." (Speech, Preceptor's Seminar, Jan. 2001-See references)

2.2.1 ABHYASI'S QUESTION:"..... why do I have to give up my existing religious practices....."

Sahaj Sandesh No.: 2005.31 - Wednesday, June 22, 2005

MASTER'S ANSWER: "All religious practice involve the worship of God as being outside us. It is called Bahya Upachara in Sanskrit. Spirituality puts God where HE really is - inside the human heart, and indeed at the heart of every created thing, as Lord Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita. One cannot mix the two. In the Vedas Murthy Pooja is called the lowest form of worship. Mantra is only a way of pleasing the mind, and bhajans please the senses, while giving the illusion of being a form of worship. I trust that this will be satisfactory. If people have more questions, they should be encouraged to read the Gita slowly, and try to understand it. Love to all."

2.3 On Homosexuality

"Unlike the churches of the world, we don’t perform same-sex marriages. That is unnatural. God did not intend it to be thus. Please excuse me, it is a personal comment, it is not Sahaj Marg. But there are things, as Babuji Maharaj said, "If God did not want two sexes, he could have as well created one and seen that the world propagated by itself."...Why two sexes? Not so that one sex should marry among themselves, isn’t it? So, what the church may allow, I don’t have to condone or accept. To me, it is a very blatant misuse of so-called privileges of the human being, fundamental rights, et cetera. Of course, if you claim it is your fundamental right to go the dogs, so be it!

2.4 On Women in the Mission

Audio tape at Chennai Airport…

2:30 p.m. On why a lady cannot be a Master Babuji said that a Master of that caliber gets orders from above, and their work includes that of destruction. A woman is not capable of such destruction. All these talk about equality between men and women the more they talk about something, the less they will get it. Equality is different from equalization. There are high pressure and low pressure areas. In the process of equalization, the wind flows from here to there, and this process if what creates the climate. If the pressure were the same everywhere, there would be no climate. This is the way of nature: Inequality Equalization Inequality Equalization (alluding to a low pressure building, winds blowing from other high pressure areas, another low pressure building up, etc.) Today you see American woman trying to do everything that the male does. They join the navy seals It is not a job for them. I might offend the woman here, but God did not create both as equals. Each have their own sphere of functioning.

25th November 2001, 8:45 a.m

. Satkhol Before the morning satsangh, the door of the meditation hall was left open, and Master asked someone to close it. After this was done, an abhyasi walked in, leaving the door open again. This was closed, only for the same scene to happen yet again! Master said In the West, they have a habit to leave things as they were. If a door is open, they will leave the door open. If a door was closed, they will close the door behind them. They will leave things as they find it. This practice makes life very simple. There are many things we should learn from the West. It is the Indians who have the arrogance to leave things any which way. Some closes a door. Someone opens a door. It is a mess. (Later an abhyasi recalled a dream in which he saw Lalaji as Babuji as Love, and Chariji as Discipline).

Master recalled Babujis directive in Paris (1982) to Him to bring discipline into the mission. But there are several people still in the mission who are undisciplined. So saying, He turned and looked at a girl who was sitting right next to Him (As if He was saying this to her). And almost immediately, she began to wipe off some tears from the corner of her eyes. And Master, looking at this, said Now, Don’t you start. I do not understand women at all. Say the slightest of things harshly, and they begin to create a scene. It appears that I should only talk about superficial things like the food, the weather, etc. to them. Anything stronger than that, they cannot take it. I do not know what Mami (referring to His late wife) will think about all this. Maybe she will pull me up for what I am saying now, once I get to the brighter world. I do not know whether I am going there or not, but she is there. Babuji is saying You are doing good work. So continue doing it. You have built Satkhol. Go on, and build more places like this Master said that, in 2005, we would have a new ashram in Uttar Kashi, which is the place where the Sapta Rishis (the Seven Sages governing the universe) came down to the Earth to meditate. He also talked about an ashram in the place where Pathanjali had his ashram

2.5 On the use of Medications

Talk at Satkhol Jan 29, 2001 (transcribed from Video)

Q : Master, the desire to reach the goal, you cannot call it a desire to reach the goal ?
R : One man, one time.
Think, think !
We have got into too much of these stereotypes,

Q : Of what?
R : Stereotypes, that insulin is necessary for diabetes, vaccine for this, something for
that.

3 Quotes of concern by Gurus of the Mission about Sahaj Marg

3.1 Choosing a Guru and Obedience

Heart of the Lion (Book)...Page 14

.

...So I repeat, the Guru is the only friend. In fact, I have said this so often, that in the Sufi philosophy, the Guru is called Friend. "The Friend is coming". Because he is the only fellow who can give his life for you. He is the only fellow, therefore, to whom you must hand over totally, a Power of Attorney....."Do with me as you think I deserve to be done with. Kick me when I have to be kicked. Beat me when I have to be beaten. Curse me when I have to be cursed. But make of me what you think I should be eventually, because only you can do it."

So once more I say this in all humility....if you must have a Master, find a fellow who is capable of, you know, throwing you around, beating you up, cutting you to pieces. Remember Parushurama's father and the stern test that young boy had to make for obedience...."Kill your Mother"...."Yes"...

He pulled out the sword and cut off her head. He said, "I am pleased with you my son. Ask for anything you want." He said, "I want my mother alive." And He said, "So be it." and she got up and walked off. The Guru is the Master, when you say of destiny, it means life and death. He must be the Master of your life as he must be the Master of your death.

3.2 Freedom...(responsibility)

From "Salient Features of Sahaj Marg" Series 2 (page 26)....

In examining this idea of freedom, we have been led to the conclusion that what we have thought of as freedom is nothing but a state of surrender to the Master's will. We have not lost freedom in the sense that we have been deprived of it. We have voluntarily, whole-heartedly and devotedly surrendered it to the Master of our Soul. To those who are fortunate enough to arrive at this stage, the Master is no longer a guide for spirituality alone. He has now become the Master of one's life in all it's aspects of existence. He becomes the father, the mother, the son, the teacher, the doctor, in fact, there is no role that He does not play in the abhyasi's life. He has taken total charge of the abhyasi. So we see that only our surrendering to Him can bring about a state where He can take total charge of us!

Analysing this further we find, surprisingly, that a great and unimaginable freedom is now confered on the abhyasi. It is the freedom from freedom itself. It is the freedom of invulnerability. We may even say that it is the freedom of invincibility. We are no longer answerable for our actions. We merely obey. The person who issues the orders, the Master, assumes complete responsibility for anything we do. We are no longer vulnerable to the world. Therefore, a great calm, a great freedom comes to us. Out of our apparent loss of previous freedom- largely illusory as we have seen- we now receive a divine gift, the true freedom of a spiritual state, a real freedom which some saints have called "The Great Liberation".

3.3 Maxim 2...(Spiritual cloning)

From "Salient Features of Sahaj Marg" Series 2

Now for the form of prayer which may ensure the greatest good to everyone. I may say that one should be brought to the same state of mind which is usually developed at the time of prayer. The feeling that he as a true servant approaches the great Master in the humble capacity of an insignificant beggar must be engrossed upon his mind. He may put up everything before his Master, resigning himself completely to His will. In other words he may assume his real form after surrendering everything to the Master. He should withdraw himself from all sides and turn completely towards Him losing all worldly charms. The remembrance of everything should merge into the remembrance of One -- the Ultimate, resounding all through in every particle of his being. This may be known as complete annihilation of self. If one develops in this state, in my view he should be considered as an embodiment of prayer. Every thought of his will be synonymous with that of the Master. He will never turn towards anything that is against the Divine will. His mind will always be directed towards that which is the Master's command.

3.4 The daily prayer…(to the Guru)

From "The efficacy of Sahaj Marg"

O Master! Thou art the real goal of human life; we are yet but slaves of wishes putting bar to our advancement. Thou art the only God and power to bring us up to that stage.

To Whom is the Mission Prayer Addressed and Why
Babuji himself has written that ultimately He (pointing upwards) is the real Master . . . and all the human Masters who come on this world, on this earth, are His representatives. If that is so, then why do we address the prayer, "Oh, Master" and not "Oh, God". Now today I am giving you the answer for that. Because God, it is a living God who is before you in the form of the Master ...this is an embodied flesh-and-blood divinity . . . who can understand our needs; who can understand our temperaments; who can sympathize with us, being human himself; who can accept our failings, perhaps having failed himself in some way . . .

3.5 Ignorance is Bliss

From "Salient features of Sahaj Marg" Series 2 (Page 20)

The fact of unknowing, which Lalaji expressed so simply- Ignorance is Bliss. When there is a fire and I don't know that there is a fire, I am comparatively happier than if I know there is a fire.....

3.6 Idol Worship

From Salient Features of Sahaj Marg (SMRI Series 3) Page 52-53

Sahaj Marg has nowhere said temple worship is wrong, nor does Master expressly forbid idol worship. ....

To other abhyasis, the preceptor has become such an idol. I believe that any abhyasi who says, "my preceptor" when talking about the preceptor who is serving him has fallen into this form of idol worship. Here it is the preceptor who has been transformed into an idol, or idolised. Here again the Master may be in the background, but is that Master's rightful place? When Master says that every gods are fuctionaries of Nature, and are there to serve, and not to be served, can we deify preceptors and relatives in this way?

I must say that preceptors generally do not fall into this error. But abhyasis idolize them to the extent of ascribing to them the credit that should go to the Master. Where our credit is given, there goes our gratitude and this is followed by our love. So, wrongly ascribed credit can be disastrous in leading to the creation of an idol for us. So Master's message is quite clear. All credit goes to our Master. When we give credit where it is not due, that too is a form of idol worship. We should beware of falling into such errors.......

3.7 Relationship with Family and Friends

From Salient Features of Sahaj Marg (SMRI Series 3) Page 19....

Connections with relations should be established in such a way that the inner bond should appear severed. However one should be a partner in their joys and sorrows. This should be with everybody.

Refrain from entering into monetary transactions. When they are in dire need, financial help should be given to the extent that one does not feel sorry if the money is not returned, and relations are not strained.

3.8 Donations

From Salient Features of Sahaj Marg (SMRI Series 3) Page 25....

If you think that it is your Mission, it is your Master, it is His plant, therefore, it is yours, then there is no sacrifice, there is no giving. You are only watering your own plant. Who should you credit for it?
To think that my Master depends on my donation could very possibly be a sin. Masters exist in a dimension where money does not play a part. Whenever he makes us donate something, he does so to lighten our burdens. Our contribution to our Master's work is perhaps of the same proportion as the squirrel's contribution to Lord Rama's work.

....But they did it out of a sense of participation, like children participating in the work. Out of Love, you see, participation out of Love.

3.9
On Giving

Chennai Airport Audi tape transcript

(Speaking with the 2 girls)
We have to do it. See, suppose you feed me, you have given away one meal for which you
should have worked for years. So, a man can give, or a human being gives only by taking
somebody’s else share.

3.10 Rightness

Page 32

I have known Master refusing a beggar five paise. I have known Master castigating our foreign abhyasis when they came and paid the rikshawwala ten rupees when the standard fare was three rupees. He was not generous. He was always right. Rightness does not mean generosity, rightness does not mean honesty, it does not mean anything.

3.11
Master’s New Year Address (2002)

…So, since you asked me to speak, I’m speaking. I hope you are listening carefully, and you will ATTEMPT to

follow the practice sincerely, with dedication, with absolute faithfulness to the practice, so that within a few short months, you will be able to feel in yourself that, "Yes, there is something in me which has changed. Yes, I see it myself, therefore I don’t need others to tell me anything about it. I am happy, so I don’t need other people to make me happy. I am content, I don’t need anything else to make me content. Where I sit in peace, thinking of my Master, I have the sole companion in my life whom I need. I don’t need anybody else to give me company. Then you will find happiness in Sahaj Marg , you will find fulfillment in Sahaj Marg . You will be ALONE but NEVER LONELY. YOU WILL HAVE NO RELATIVES, but you will have the one friend without whom we can do nothing and whom we don’t have, though we have many friends! He who has no Master, may have many friends but no real friend. He who has the Master may have only one friend but He is the real friend. And may that true friend be with you, guide you, help you, and take you to Himself.
Happy New Year, and may the Master bless you. Thank you.

3.12 How to surrender? (become a "living dead") (Paraphrased from from many books)

To effect the surrender of God in the easiest way, only an act of will is required. Self-surrender is nothing but a state of complete resignation to the will of Master with total disregard of self.

The only effective way to attach one’s self firmly to the Abhyas is, to link himself with the Unlimited or in other words with one who, having linked himself with the unlimited, has attained the state of perfection. When you have linked yourself thus it means that the great personality has taken you in the bosom of his heart. Your effort towards going deep into it means you have taken up the path towards the Ultimate. That is what the word surrender conveys and which is the only surest path for the attainment of complete perfection. So long as you do a thing and know that you are doing it, it is not the right course and you are away from the level of surrender, because the feeling of ego is also there. Surrender is free from any conscious idea of ego. Everything there goes on in an automatic way according to the need of the moment without any previous or after thought.

The easiest and surest means to achieve this end (Absolute State) is to surrender yourself to the great Master in true sense and become a ‘Living Dead’ yourself. This feeling of surrender if cultivated by forced and mechanical means seldom prove to be genuine. It must develop automatically within you without the least strain or pressure upon the mind. Even if the knowledge of this fact is retained then it is not the true form of surrender. What remains to be done, when you have surrendered yourself in true sense, is, I believe, nothing. In this state you will be in close touch with Reality all the time and the current of Divine Effulgence will continue its flow to you without a break.

3.13 Master of Everything

Talk on 21st November 2001. 7 a.m.

Dehradun (While addressing a family, about to be newly introduced to the system, after he had spoken to them about the system for about 1 hour) It is an important thing this that when we accept a Master, we accept Him completely. It is not that He is only a Master for spirituality, and we look to others for other things.

3.14 Question: Will the dependence on the Master ever stop?

From Spider's Web (Book) (volume 1) Page 53

An Abhyasis asked the Master: "You are always talking of liberation and freedom, but everything you teach seems to need more and more dependence on the Master. Can you please explain this?"

Master replied, "Yes, you are right. But the attachment and dependence on the Master is only for the purpose of detaching you from the rest of creation, and finally, a stage comes when the dependence on the Master is cut. Thereafter, you are on you own in direct contact with God."

3.15 Why Group Sittings? Obedience

The third reason is easy: because He said so, and therefore, we obey. So you see, group satsanghs are important because they amplify our efforts, the results being far bigger than the sum of individual efforts, and we learn tolerance, respect and love.

Visakhapatnam on Friday that Pranahuthi - the forgotten art of yogic
transmission -was revived and popularised by the mission's founder Sri Ramachandra Maharaj
(Lalaji) and his successor, Babuji. Under the Sahajmarg system of spiritual
training, the activity of senses is regulated by yogic transmission. He said that the
technique was simple and that anybody could practice it.

Lessons for SRCMtm from Babuji's letter to UN

NOTES:

I add my comments for the abhyasis who are interested in seeing and understanding where SRCMtm does not adhere to the UN's goals and disregards the advice given by Babuji in 1957. This is from Babuji's mouth and pen and is not "channelled" from beyond the grave. (I will bold the sections I comment on in a different color and font.)

(Letter to the U.N.O)
N..B349 / SRCM
Shahjahanpur, U.P.
Dated 8th July 1957

Dear Sir,

I am glad to receive your bulletin and I pour forth my warm thanks for the awakening for peace created among our brethren of the world. The idea of peace common in all minds, though shattered by the self of the individual mind, is working on individualistic basis to gain one’s own end on account of the narrow mindedness of people. To dissipate the idea of individual self and to work harmoniously for the common good is the demand of the time. The conferences and meetings held for the purpose may only be like spark to offer a temporary glow to the scattered fragment of peace. Their cries in the wilderness will not carry far on the path of success because of the material agony of faith working at the bottom. (read this carefully)

What we, therefore, require at present is only to improve the morals and to discipline the mind. We must learn how to create within the heart a feeling of universal love, which is surest remedy of all evils and can help to free us from the horrors of war. I perfectly agree with our friend late Mr. Bernard Malan when he expresses his faith to unite in the common search for happiness. Happiness, of course, is necessary to end all grief. But it is like the Black wall of the scientists, which does not allow them to proceed further towards universal love. To come up to the level of real happiness we must necessarily rise above ourselves, which is essential for the creation of atmosphere of universal love. (This means forget the self-centered goal of "the central region" and the "Mission" and think of your family, neighbour etc..) That is the primary factor in the solution of the problem. India has ever since been in search of it. She did not encroach upon other countries for war and blood shed not for reason of her cowardice but because she realized her pious duty towards humanity. They were happy in their own homes in spite of the torturous incursions of their nations. (These incursions of SRCM(tm) into other countries is not to unite families and societies, but causes divisions through the disrespect of the religions, cultures, and families of the targeted countries...see Chari's speeches) These tortures were to them nothing but flowers sent by the Divine Master to coach them to proper steps necessary for the uplift of mankind individually and collectively.

The seed of it is so deeply laid that still its branches bear blossoms filling the air with the sweet fragrance of peace and happiness. It is so firmly rooted that even the worst tempest cannot uproot it. Such are the things necessary for the uplift of mankind, which everyone, occidental or oriental must treat as a part of his duty. Unless the foundation of peace is made to rest on spiritual basis no better prospects can be expected. It is but definite and certain that sooner or later we will have to adopt spiritual principles if we want to maintain our existence. If the material force can avert the incursions and attacks, blood shed cannot be avoided because even then we have to apply force causing thereby bloodshed on either side. Arrogance can not be stopped by material force. It is only the spiritual force, which can remove the causes of war from the minds of people. (the "arrogant" incursions of the "material force" that are castles, ranches, ashrams, and the "spiritual capitalism" that is the "gift to "or from" the Master, etc...will cause divisions as Babuji warned. Chari did not listen to Babuji and Dr. Varadachari then, he does not listen now. The spiritual force that was Sahaj Marg is now a cancerous "material force" with a steady incursion into more and more countries. It practices the cultural mores of the Hindu culture (arranged marriages, etc..) and disregards the local "customs", Holy days and family days (Christmas, Easter, etc) and even disrespects the religions and the God of the targeted cultures. (see Chari's speeches)
How to introduce these things among the masses who are yet unfamiliar with the accuracy of the mark is the next problem and is equally intricate. If my opinion were to be invited I would lay down the simplest possible method as given below.

Let all brothers and sisters sit daily at a fixed hour individually at our respective places and meditate for about an hour thinking that all people of the World are growing peace – loving and pious.

This process, suggested not with exclusively spiritual motives (notice this sentence and think about it), is highly efficacious in bringing about the desired result and weaving the destiny of the miserable millions.

With prayer (not the self-centered and self-serving "Method" of Meditation but a meditation and a prayer) for the success of your noble mission

Yours sincerely,

Ram ChandraPresident,
Shri Ram Chandra Mission
Shahjahanpur,
U.P.,India

Comments:

Babuji and Sahaj Marg was "spiritual" and did not "commercialize" the Mission. That was done after his death by others.

Suggestions for SRCM and the UN DPI Program

Suggestions for SRCM and the UN DPI Program

The first section is from the UN Preamble:
(my comments and criticisms for "education and discussion" are in another font and color)

WE THE PEOPLES OF THE UNITED NATIONS DETERMINED

to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold sorrow to mankind, and

to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and of nations large and small, and (That means the equality right of women to be "Masters", the equality right of homosexuals to practice the "lifestyle" they chose or that is chosen for them by Nature or the Divine.)

to establish conditions under which justice and respect for the obligations arising from treaties and other sources of international law can be maintained, and (Internation law addresses the equality rights of women and the "lifestyle" choices of Homosexuals)

to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom, (That means to put some "funds" to the "freedom" problems of the poor, the hungry, the disenfranchised, the sick, etc. and not to castles, ranches, ashrams, retreats, research, etc..)

AND FOR THESE ENDS

to practice tolerance and live together in peace with one another as good neighbours, and (That means, be a friend, not arrogant, a Master or a "GOD", and help in equalizing our world, not just build an empire for you and your culture and family)

to unite our strength to maintain international peace and security, and
to ensure, by the acceptance of principles and the institution of methods, that armed force shall not be used, save in the common interest, and

to employ international machinery for the promotion of the economic and social advancement of all peoples, (all people...that means ALL)

HERE are a list of suggested Activities of the SRCM (tm) to show adherence to the UN agenda:
(I add comments in different color and font)

SRCM’s UN liaison’s may schedule open houses emphasizing the Universal Prayer to coincide with the following UN’s commemorations days.

15 May - International Day of Families
June 29 - International Day of UN Peacekeepers
12 August - International Youth Day
(UN definition for youth is 15 - 24)

16 November - International Day for Tolerance (this includes tolerance and respect for other religions and their God and Masters...see Chari's speeches on Christianity and Hinduism, homosexuality, the rights of women to be "Masters" etc...etc...)

10 December - Human Rights Day (this should include the rights of women to be "Masters" but who cannot in Chari's SRCM (tm), and the rights of "homosexuals" who are "un-natural" as Chari states in his speeches)

A list of possible themes that may be used when planning a gathering to coincide with the UN Commemoration Days

Prayer and Human Transformation
Being Responsive (not arrogant and dismissive)

PREAMBLE

UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS (UN)

Adopted and proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 217 A (III) of 10 December 1948

Whereas recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world,

Whereas disregard and contempt for human rights have resulted in barbarous acts which have outraged the conscience of mankind, and the advent of a world in which human beings shall enjoy freedom of speech and belief and freedom from fear and want has been proclaimed as the highest aspiration of the common people, (criticism of the Mission has been met with "threats of legal action", Chari has called Hinduism "corrupt" and has disrespected Christianity in his speeches, and "fear" (intellectual terrorism) has been used by the Master to prevent abhyasis from leaving the Mission.)

From Speech on this site where he accuses other "religions" of using "fear and temptation":

"How to enforce a man's behavior in the pursuit of the goal was the next question and here fear came in all too handy -- the fear of punishment for swerving from the performance of religious rituals stipulated; the fear of punishment for not supporting the body of one's own religion in its continued existence; the fear of retribution for acts forbidden; and so on and so forth. Therefore, fear on one hand, and temptation on the other, would be a fair representation of religious activity, and religious control."

http://parthasarathi-rajagopalachari.sulekha.com/blog/post/2002/06/spirituality-and-religion/comments.htm
PS. read also 4-d don's comments on this blog.

Chari states:

"For those who are well advanced and for those who are advancing rapidly, please remember that without Constant Remembrance your life is fraught with great risks, not because there are dangers outside, but the danger is here, you see, in the heart. It is better to be a non-spiritual materialist whose heart is full of rubbish, because he cannot take anymore. There is no vacuum in his heart; whereas for a spiritual advancing person, there is a potential risk in every exposure. Because if this vacuum connection can be broken even for a moment and disconnected and connected elsewhere –God help him!"
Constant Remembrance, Sahaj Marg Education Series, p.147 -Rev.Chariji)

Whereas it is essential, if man is not to be compelled to have recourse, as a last resort, to rebellion against tyranny and oppression, that human rights should be protected by the rule of law, (Chari on gay rights legislation: "it is a very blatant misuse of so-called privileges of the human being, fundamental rights, et cetera." see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sahaj_Marg or http://lessonsfromsahajmarg.blogspot.com/)

Whereas it is essential to promote the development of friendly relations between nations,
Chari in one of his speeches in Switzerland claims that SRCM is more democratic than the land of "Liberte, Fraternite, Egalite", (France). SRCM is not democratic by most standards. President, as Master, is self-appointed for life, in Chari's and Babuji's case, and the other "officers" are chosen and appointed by the Master. This is not "democracy". To teach the "invincibility" of India in his schools to "children" and comparing and praising the "better" qualities of his choice for his "arranged" marriages to "western" men and women, is not promoting friendly relations between nations, cultures and religions. It is another "division" not a "UNITY" of spirituality.

Whereas the peoples of the United Nations have in the Charter reaffirmed their faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person and in the equal rights of men and women and have determined to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom, (According to Chari, women cannot be Masters as they are not "destructive" enough, and his arranged marriages, his statements on Homosexuality, and other religions has him delinquent on this statement of the UN preamble.)

Whereas Member States have pledged themselves to achieve, in co-operation with the United Nations, the promotion of universal respect for and observance of human rights and fundamental freedoms, (SRCM (tm) does not promote the equality rights of women and the fundamental rights of homosexuals, gays and lesbians. SRCM is delinquent here also.)

Whereas a common understanding of these rights and freedoms is of the greatest importance for the full realization of this pledge, (SRCM (tm) does not have an understanding of these rights and freedoms. SRCM (tm) is delinquent here)

Now,

Therefore THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY proclaims THIS UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS as a common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations, to the end that every individual and every organ of society, keeping this Declaration constantly in mind, shall strive by teaching and education to promote respect for these rights and freedoms and by progressive measures, national and international, to secure their universal and effective recognition and observance, both among the peoples of Member States themselves and among the peoples of territories under their jurisdiction. (SRCM is delinquent and does not address these rights and does not keep them in mind. SRCM (tm) is delinquent.

SHRI RAM CHANDRA MISSION AND THE UNITED NATIONS

Since 12 December 2005, the Shri Ram Chandra Mission is in working relationship with the United Nations Department of Public Information (DPI). This association in the sixtieth year of the founding of the Mission by Shri Ram Chandra of Shahjahanpur, India, in 1945 coincides with the sixtieth anniversary of the United Nations.

As an international non-governmental organization that works in support of the public good and fulfills the principles outlined in the United Nations Charter, Shri Ram Chandra Mission joins 1,558 non-governmental organizations worldwide that are currently associated with DPI. This association constitutes a commitment on the part of the Mission to disseminate information and raise public awareness about the purposes and activities of the United Nations and issues of global concern.

The United Nations recognizes the need for solidarity, goodwill and collective responsibility amongst the world’s nations and peoples in order to establish a lasting peace and sustainable development for all. To this end, it has been establishing partnerships with local, national and international, non-profit, service-oriented voluntary groups that share similar values.

Since 1945, Shri Ram Chandra Mission has been providing a spiritual and worldly platform for people in now more than ninety nations. Every day, in its ashrams and hundreds of centres, people come together to foster mutual love, trust and universal brotherhood transcending the boundaries of race, religion, nationality, colour, language, education, caste, sect, age and social standing.
The Mission achieves this unity in purpose by offering, for free, a simple and practical method of spiritual practice that unfolds the full potential within an individual who then assumes responsibility for personal growth and social change. Over the decades, guided by Revered Master, Shri Parthasarathi Rajagopalachari, the Mission has actively promoted human integration and invoked within the hearts of its practitioners the belief that all life is sacred.
Our involvement with the United Nations comes at a time when more individuals around the world are benefiting from the Mission’s services, and when the emblematic purpose of the United Nations to become a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations is ever more in need of support.
Recognizing the urgency for people with similar values to convene on a shared foundation, Shri Ram Chandra Mission embraces this association in the faith that, ultimately, selfless actions will govern the destiny of human beings.

(SRCM and its abhyasis do not practice "selfless actions" but are obsessed in the "goal" of Mission (growing the business) and their own personal goal of reaching the "Central Region" or the "brighter World" (heaven). SRCM (tm) and its preceptors, prefects and abhyasis are delinquent in their service to the community, friends, relatives and family. As per the Mission's Master, the relationship with the family and relatives is to be seen as "the inner bond should appear severed" , and "you will have no relatives" (New Year's address Jan. 1, 2001) and "refrain from entering into monetary transactions with relatives".
